The Story of Team Placid Planet
We live, work, train and ride in the High Peaks Wilderness area of the Adirondack Mountains of Northern New York. We race in the Northeast region of the United States participating in road races, triathlons, mountain bike races, cyclocross races, fat bike races and marathons. Many of us are transplanted from some other area of the country. We came here because of the beauty of the wilderness. Weather doesn't bother us, hills don't bother us. If it did, we'd be somewhere easier! This is our story......
Placid Planet Bicycles was established in Lake Placid, NY in 1994 by Kenny Boettger and Julie Voss to provide cyclists in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Park with a superior outlet for their cycling needs. It was also determined that since the only job Kenny ever had was in a bike shop, he was virtually unemployable in any other industry! Since then the shop has continued to grow and has become the hub for local cyclists and for the thousands of tourists that visit the area yearly. Whether it's a new bike, a set of tires or a tube (or ski tuning in the winter) the folks at Placid Planet Bicycles are true ambassadors for the region.
